How to Choose the Perfect Beverage Cooler

By: Staff

Most people don’t realize how convenient a beverage cooler is until they actually have one. Whether you put one in your game room or in the outdoor changing room by the pool so people aren’t constantly walking through the house, it will get used! One can even come in handy in your office at work and employees will certainly appreciate one in their break room. Since there are so many different types of coolers for beverages available it can be confusing trying to figure out which one you should buy.

Analyze Beverage Requirements

If you intend on stocking mainly wine in your cooler with perhaps a few bottles of water, your needs are going to be considerably different than someone who stocks mostly cans of soda and beer. For example, if you will be using your cooler primarily for wine, you want one that will allow you to regulate the temperature according to the wine type.

The Vinotemp VT-36 is a preferred choice because there’s dual zone temperature controls. This allows you to keep your wine on one side and set a precise temperate while keeping the rest of your beverages on the other side at a different temperature. This is a feature that you should be looking for if you intend on storing wine in your cooler.

Capacity

How large of a cooler do you need? If you are the house that everyone gathers at on the weekends or constantly stops by with their kids, you may want a larger cooler that you can keep stocked full of an assortment of beverages. On the other hand, if you are looking for one for commercial use because your bar has opened its new outside patio, you may only need a small one to hold a few bottles of wine. Alternatively, you might need one large enough to stock Redbull, soda, juices for cocktails, etc. Choosing the right size cooler will ensure that you are able to use it to its full potential.

Freestanding or Built In

The next thing that you need to decide is if you want a freestanding model or one that is built right in to your cabinets. There are beverage coolers available as both options so whatever your needs are, there is a model available to fulfill them. There are even some that are made to be built in but they are stylish enough to leave out for even more flexibility with your placement. If you intend on having a cooler built in, always make sure that it has front vents and that these vents are never obstructed.
